Cinnamon Sugar Bites

This next recipe is great to make with any leftover pizza dough. I made it with leftover dough from my homemade pizza recipe. Also, the picture shows it in doughnut form, but they could be made in strips, little bites, pretzels, or whatever shape you want.

Ingredients

  • pizza dough
  • oil for frying, I like to use peanut oil
  • cinnamon/ sugar mixture
  • 1 1/4 C powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons milk

Heat the oil to 375 degrees.

Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut the dough into whatever shape you would like- doughnuts, sticks, small circles (bites), or even use seasonal cookie cutters like a heart.

When the oil is hot, working in batches, fry the dough until it puffs but is still pale, about 45 seconds per side. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the doughnuts to paper towels to drain. Sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar mixture while still hot.

Mix the powdered sugar and milk together and drizzle over top.

This was really good, but tasted more like a cinnamon sugar pretzel instead of a doughnut. I would recommend making either little sticks or bites, and serve for dessert. 🙂 Definitely tasty, though.
