Pound Cake

I honestly don’t think I’ve ever made a pound cake. I have a couple different recipes for one, but haven’t ever tried one. This recipe uses Eagle brand milk, so I’m not sure what could go wrong! ๐Ÿ™‚

  • 1 pound butter
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 8 eggs
  • 8 heaping tablespoons Eagle brand milk (sweetened condensed)
  • 3 1/2 cups cake flour
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla

Directions

  1. Cream butter and sugar together.
  2. Add eggs 2 at a time.
  3. Alternately add milk and flour to mixture.
  4. Add the vanilla.
  5. Grease and flour a tube pan and pour mixture into prepared pan.
  6. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 3/4 to 2 hours.
  7. Invert after cooling about 10 minutes.

So, basically I didn’t think that just my little family could eat this whole pound cake, so I cut the recipe in half. It turned out delicious and looked wonderful as well. My favorite part was the top (inverted as the bottom). It had this crusty, sweet texture that was amazing. ๐Ÿ™‚ This would be great with whipped cream and strawberries!
